Meet Wouter at ESS Expo & the EMMAs 2026
Our colleague Wouter T'Seyen will be representing iFLUX at ESS Expo 2026 in Birmingham, connecting with the wider environmental monitoring and remediation industry on September 16.
iFLUX has also been shortlisted for the Environmental Monitoring & Measurement Achievement Awards (EMMAs) 2026, in the Best Land & Soil Investigation Project category, for the case study "PFAS flux-based assessment as an important line of evidence: a multi-source industrial site case study," developed together with AECOM. Winners will be announced at the ceremony on September 16, starting at 18:30, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
For 2026, the EMMAs introduced new categories dedicated to land, soil and geo-environmental measurement for the first time, alongside their established water and air categories, reflecting the growing role of site investigation and remediation within the wider environmental monitoring sector.
Why this event matters
Concentration data alone often can't answer whether PFAS contamination at a site is actually migrating toward a deeper aquifer or a nearby watercourse, a question that matters directly for remediation decisions and regulatory discussions. In the case shortlisted for this year's EMMAs, flux measurements at a multi-source industrial site in Belgium showed that migration to the deeper aquifer was negligible, adding a line of evidence that supported a No Further Action outcome.
The introduction of a dedicated land and soil category at the EMMAs this year suggests that this kind of evidence is increasingly seen as a distinct, credible part of site investigation, alongside more established water and air monitoring methods.
